Sweet pepper and mild chilli plants grown by us in Illmitz – from jalapeño to poblano
We raise our mild chilli plants and sweet pepper plants ourselves as young plants in Illmitz, Burgenland, Austria. This category brings together varieties with heat level 0 to 3 – from practically heat-free to lightly spicy. It is especially suited to anyone who enjoys the aromatic flavour of chilli without the heat taking centre stage.
Mild chilli varieties at a glance
Our mild range includes the jalapeño, the smoky, mild Ancho Poblano, the Spanish Pimiento de Padron, the cherry-red Cherry Bomb chilli and the fruity, mild Biquinho. Sweet pepper types such as Chocolate Beauty round off the selection. This category covers a broad range of flavours, from neutral and aromatic to fruity and mild.
Mild peppers: about peperoni and pfefferoni
If you are searching for mild pepper plants – called peperoni or pfefferoni in German-speaking countries – you will find the matching mild to lightly hot chilli varieties in this category. We do not sell a variety named "peperoni", as it is a general term for mild Capsicum annuum types; the varieties listed here fit exactly that profile. Our guide peperoni, pfefferoni or cayenne? explains where the confusion comes from.
Mild chilli plants for the kitchen and the grill
Mild chilli plants are versatile: grilled, stuffed, pickled or fresh in a salad. If you want to control the heat rather than maximise it, this category suits you best. If you like it much hotter, you will find suitable varieties in our hot chilli plants (heat level 8-10) or among the habanero plants.
Ordering sweet pepper and mild chilli plants
Pre-orders for our chilli plants open in early January. Plants ship in spring, once the young plants are strong enough and temperatures are suitable for safe transport. This category stays online outside the season, so you can browse in advance. You will find the full range from mild to extremely hot in our main Chilli Plants category.
