Golden Bumblebee – special features of the variety
Golden Bumblebee belongs to the striped Artisan tomato series. The small fruit ripens deep golden yellow and develops orange stripes. The pattern becomes clearer at full ripeness and, together with red, dark or green varieties, creates a varied tomato platter.
Fruit, flavour and use
The round to lightly oval cherry tomatoes are roughly two to three centimetres and usually weigh 15 to 25 grams. Their flavour is sweet, fruity and mild. They suit snacking, salads and a light lunch, as well as a colourful part of caprese and cold platters.
Growing in a bed or pot
Golden Bumblebee grows indeterminate and, under good conditions, fruits over a longer period. A sturdy support and one or two main shoots make care easier. Plant in a sunny, warm and, where possible, rain-sheltered spot. In a pot, use at least 15 to 20 litres of soil and water evenly so the fruit ripens without strong swings in moisture.
A tomato young plant, raised by us
We raise the Golden Bumblebee tomato plant ourselves at our family business in Illmitz. After shipping, the young plant should first stand in a bright, sheltered spot and be gradually acclimatised to direct sun and wind. It only goes outdoors permanently once no more late frosts are expected.
