Artisan Pink Bumblebee is a pink-and-yellow striped cherry tomato with a long harvest window. The small fruit is sweet-fruity and at the same time pleasantly fresh. We raise our open-pollinated tomato plants ourselves in Illmitz.
What sets Pink Bumblebee apart?
The variety belongs to the Artisan range of colourful cherry tomatoes. Its round fruit shows golden-yellow or orange stripes against a pink-to-red base. No two fruit look exactly alike, which makes Pink Bumblebee especially good for colourful tomato platters.
Flavour and use
Fully ripe fruit combines sweetness with a light acidity and spicy tomato notes. It suits snacking, salads and a light lunch. Halved, it also works on bruschetta or focaccia and can be briefly braised in a pan.
Growth and harvest time
Pink Bumblebee grows indeterminate and forms new shoots, flowers and trusses right up to the end of the season. The first fruit usually ripens early to medium-early. With good care, more follows over many weeks.
Growing Artisan Pink Bumblebee
The vigorous cordon tomato needs a sunny spot and a sturdy support. We recommend one- or two-shoot growing. Side shoots are removed regularly to keep the plant manageable and well-ventilated.
Growing in a pot
Pink Bumblebee also grows reliably in a container, given at least around 20 litres of substrate. Even watering is especially important for cherry tomatoes, since strong swings in moisture can encourage ripe fruit to split.
