Karma Purple Multiflora – special features of the variety
Karma Purple Multiflora was developed by Karen Olivier and Marsha Eisenberg. It grows with potato-leaf foliage and produces branching trusses with larger cherry-to-cocktail-sized tomatoes. Its dark burgundy to purple ripening colour clearly sets it apart from classic red multiflora varieties.
Fruit, flavour and use
The round to lightly flattened fruit usually weighs around 20 to 40 grams. Its flavour is full-bodied, sweet-spicy and well-balanced. That makes the variety suit direct snacking, salads and a light lunch, but also caprese and cheese boards. Fully ripe fruit yields slightly to gentle pressure.
Growing in a bed or pot
As an indeterminate cordon tomato, Karma Purple Multiflora needs a sturdy support. One or two main shoots keep the branching trusses easy to reach; heavily loaded trusses can be additionally supported. Plant in a sunny, warm and, where possible, rain-sheltered spot. In a pot, use at least 20 litres of soil.
A tomato young plant, raised by us
We raise the Karma Purple Multiflora tomato plant ourselves at our family business in Illmitz. After shipping, the young plant should first stand in a bright, sheltered spot and be gradually acclimatised to direct sun and wind. It only goes outdoors permanently once no more late frosts are expected.
