Dark Dwarf Multiflora – character and use
Dark Dwarf Multiflora combines low, compact growth with unusually strongly branching flower and fruit clusters. That makes the variety well suited to small gardens, balconies and patios. Its dark fruit colour ranges from chocolate brown to dark red-brown at full ripeness and creates a lovely contrast with the foliage.
Fruit, flavour and harvest
The round cherry tomatoes usually weigh 10 to 20 grams. They taste sweet, full-bodied and pleasantly tomato-like. The small fruit can be eaten straight off the plant, halved into salads, or combined with yellow and red varieties. Ripe fruit is identified by its dark base colour and a slight yield to pressure.
Position and care
The determinate plant stays low at around 30 to 50 centimetres and is not pruned. A pot from seven to ten litres gives enough reserve for water and nutrients. Under a heavy fruit load, a small tomato cage or several short stakes support the branching trusses. Place in a sunny spot, water evenly, and avoid waterlogging.
A tomato young plant, raised by us
We raise the Dark Dwarf Multiflora tomato plant ourselves at our family business in Illmitz. You'll get a vigorous young plant to start your tomato season. After shipping, it should first stand in a bright, sheltered spot and be gradually acclimatised to direct sun and outdoor conditions. It's only planted out permanently once no more late frosts are expected.
