Blush Tiger – character and use
Blush Tiger combines the handy shape of a grape tomato with a striking ripening colour. The fruit starts yellow and develops pink to red stripes as it ripens well. That makes the right harvest time easy to spot. The variety suits growers looking for an aromatic snacking tomato with an unusual look.
Fruit, flavour and harvest
The elongated fruit stays pleasantly small at usually 18 to 30 grams. Its flavour is sweet, fruity and mild. Harvested ripe, its fine aromas really come through. Blush Tiger tastes great straight from the plant, in a mixed tomato salad, on a light lunch platter, or halved as a decorative side.
Position and care
As an indeterminate cordon tomato, Blush Tiger keeps growing through the season and needs a support. A sunny, warm and, where possible, rain-sheltered spot supports ripening. Even watering helps avoid stress and split fruit. In a pot, we recommend at least 15 to 20 litres of substrate; in a bed, loose soil and appropriate tomato feeding provide good conditions.
A tomato young plant, raised by us
We raise the Blush Tiger tomato plant ourselves at our family business in Illmitz. You'll get a vigorous young plant to start your tomato season. After shipping, it should first stand in a bright, sheltered spot and be gradually acclimatised to direct sun and outdoor conditions. It's only planted out permanently once no more late frosts are expected.
