Indigo Pear Drops – special features of the variety
Indigo Pear Drops combines a small pear shape with a striking anthocyanin pattern. The fruit ripens from green to yellow and orange; dark violet shoulders form in heavily sun-exposed spots. Colour and intensity can vary depending on sun exposure.
Fruit, flavour and use
The cherry tomatoes, weighing around 15 to 25 grams, taste sweet, mild and fruity. Their handy shape suits snacking, colourful salads, a light lunch or cheese boards. Yellow-orange flesh and violet shoulders also create a clear colour contrast as a garnish.
Growing in a bed or pot
The variety grows indeterminate and is trained on a sturdy support. We recommend one or two main shoots and regular tying in. A full-sun, warm and, where possible, sheltered spot supports ripening and colouring. For pot growing, plan for at least 15 to 20 litres of soil.
A tomato young plant, raised by us
We raise the Indigo Pear Drops tomato plant ourselves at our family business in Illmitz. After shipping, the young plant should first stand in a bright, sheltered spot and be gradually acclimatised to direct sun and wind. It only goes outdoors permanently once no more late frosts are expected.
