Candy Berry Micro Dwarf – special features of the variety
Candy Berry Micro Dwarf was developed for growing in small spaces. Its compact plant usually stays only 20 to 25 centimetres tall and produces neat clusters of small red fruit. That makes it fit a sunny windowsill just as well as a pot on a balcony or patio.
Fruit, flavour and use
The round cherry tomatoes weigh around ten grams. Fully ripe, they're mildly sweet, juicy and pleasantly tomato-like. Their handy size suits snacking, salads, a light lunch and a red garnish. Harvest once the fruit is evenly red and yields slightly to gentle pressure.
Growing in a bed or pot
Candy Berry grows determinate and is not pruned. It's easy to care for in a pot from three to five litres; a little more soil volume helps in hot spots. Keep the soil evenly moist but avoid waterlogging. Given its low height, support is usually not needed; a small plant ring suffices under a heavy load.
A tomato young plant, raised by us
We raise the Candy Berry Micro Dwarf tomato plant ourselves at our family business in Illmitz. After shipping, the young plant should first stand in a bright, sheltered spot and be gradually acclimatised to direct sun and wind. It only goes outdoors permanently once no more late frosts are expected.
